Developing Measures for Adult Social Work Effectiveness Evaluation

    Export to Mendeley

In this presentation, social work effectiveness evaluation is considered where the focus is adults as clients. The results are based on the Adult Social Work Effectiveness Evaluation project (2011-2012) where effectiveness evaluation measures were developed in adult social work. For the purpose of studying and developing evaluation measures, the National Institute for Health and Welfare (FINLAND) joined forces with three social security offices (City of Helsinki Western Social Work Unit, the Basic Social Security/Social Assistance Unit of the City of Seinäjoki Centre of Social Services, and the Rehabilitative Social Work Unit of Tuusula Department of Social Services and Health Care) as well as the Ostrobothnia Centre of Expertise on Social Welfare. The developed measures were based on national social work classifications and theoretical and methodical examinations of adult social work. In the article, it is regarded the development process of a measure called AVAIN (the KEY), which was launched at Seinäjoki subproject. The measure’s design and theoretical background are presented. It is also shown some examples of the information the measure produced at Seinäjoki social services. In the end some ideas about how to produce evidence based konowledge by using the KEY measure are outlined.
